| About Abracadabra Steven Michael Lesse, the owner and entrepreneur of Abracadabra, began making jewelry in the tenth grade. He then worked towards his Bachelor of Fine Arts at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. In 1973 Steven opened his first workshop in Southfield, Michigan. He called his workshop Abracadabra Jewelry ("Abracadabra" means "to create as I speak" in Hebrew). During this time, Steven also taught adult education classes in jewelry fabrication in Royal Oak. In 1974 Steven moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan and hired his first employee. His new store at 302 E. Liberty was large enough to accommodate more than jewelry and gems! A
New Name and A New Focus Steven now had several employees working for him and with their help he was able to delve deeper into his studies with the GIA (Gemological Institute of America). He also spent some time traveling across the United States to mine his own stones!
